UItrends Giveaway – Free Photoshop Training DVD!
The fine folks at Class On Demand have provided us a copy of “Designer’s Guide to Photoshop” training DVD. Usually these cost $79.95 but we are giving it away for free to one lucky winner.
All you need to do to win this DVD is to leave a comment on this post by January 15, 2010 about why you should win and how this training will help you. That’s it… also you have to live in the continental USA because I’m paying the shipping out of my own pocket and my pockets are very small and cheaply made.

The contest is now closed. Congrats to the big winner and future photoshop pro Steven Rogers!!!!!!!!!

I don’t own Photoshop, nor do I use it, so don’t pick me. But I love the content on UITrends, so wanted to encourage others to jump in here.

I am a professional web developer JUST getting a freelance career started. While I’m a fairly strong expert in code and development, I’m a HORRENDOUS designer…
But that being said, this entry is not for me; it is for my wife! She is the creative person in our lives: painting, photography, hand-made crafts and just a general life filled with art with GREAT design skills.
So if I win, this DVD would go to her, so that she can learn to use photoshop, and complement yet another part of our life together. She can handle the design part and I can take it from there.
Not only can we share our lives together but we can work together, side by side the way we’ve always wanted
thanks for the opportunity!

I really, really want this DVD so that I can totally pwn noobs on some photoshopping skillz, but my company doesnt purchase new software until 3 versions earlier than the latest, so I dont know if this DVD will apply to my 2001 version of photoshop. Maybe, just maybe, if I win this DVD, I can convince my boss to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop.
Daddy needs some new shoes. Thanks!

I totally need to win this! I’m in the middle of the biggest comment war to ever hit myfacetweet. With this tutorial, the lens flaring techniques, getting my glow’s perfected, contour, bevel, emboss… I have no doubt that I will be able to effectively tell my enemies that they may take my life, but they’ll never take…. MY FREEDOM!

I’ll make this short. I have always been on the developer side of web applications. My passion however is for great UI’s and promoting great user experiences. The problem is my PS skills could use a bit of work. I would love to be considered for this giveaway!

I’m horrible at Photoshop…I resort to Fireworks because it’s simpler. But I’d like to learn PS since I’m working with designers all the time and it’s a good skill to have.

An actual email from my Mom:
“Son,
Since your father and I never see you during the daytime hours and you stay up all night talking to your on line game friends, I thought I would send you the email to get your attention. Your dad and I want to know when you will be using that computer (that you had to have) (and was VERY expensive) to actually start earning money like you promised you would. I know for a fact that you can earn money designing Christmas cards for Mrs. Jeffe’s bridge club. All you have to do is call her. You better start earning your keep with that computer, or you might loose it. We had a deal Mister.”

I’ve just started using Photoshop CS3 this year for the first time for my new job and am learning by trial and error. I like learning new things on my own, but this would be a great help, as I’ve recently started photography and I’d like to really learn how to use PS.
Thanks!

I would like to win this DVD because I’m an aspiring young web designer, who wants to further his skills with Photoshop. I’m part of the future of web design. Wouldn’t you want all the websites in the future to look nice? Plus I don’t have a lot of money, and winning this DVD would be an enormous help.

Three children and a stay at home Mom…Struggling to show my worth as a newly introduced role to my company and because I’m good enough, smart enough and da’gonnit people like me.
In this new upcoming world, you need to understand design and engineering to become successful. I’m a bridge between both worlds which requires me to have skills aquired from my left and right brain.
My wife uses Photoshop Elements which will soon be replaced by Lightroom. She has started doing photography to help offset finances in our struggling economic state. It would be great to share training with her so we can both learn from it.
This would help both of us share time together learning and hopefully bringing success to our family.

I would love to win this DVD to sharpen my Photoshop skills and strengthen my portfolio. I am a stay-at-home mom and full-time design student in an area of the country where the economy really stinks (unemployment rate is currently at 13%). In my area, the job search in the field of design is extremely competitive right now. By utilizing this program, I would be learning some great tips, tricks and techniques which would definitely give me the edge on the competition. It may be just what I need to land a great job! Thanks for the opportunity.

Thanks UI Trends for the Opportunity to enter the drawing for Designer’s Guide to Photoshop! I am a graduate student studying visual design, and could really use some help in trying to master Photoshop’s tools for print, video, and web-based projects. Having this DVD would be a great resource for training in these techniques that I have yet to fully comprehend. I have found books on the subject to be frustrating, and understand that this tutorial logically simplifies and explains the nuances of Photoshop, including the incorporation of graphics and image development for web and video.

I could really use this DVD because I’m primarily a developer but aspiring to have some design sense to go along with it. If I win, I’ll train hard and there will be fewer sites in the world that look like they were done by a developer with no design sense whatever. It won’t be like the 3 January trips to the gym followed by 11 months of slacking off. No sir, not that. 1-2 layer, duplicate! gradient, radial! left-click, right-click, left-click, right-click . . whew! So save the web and hit me with some training. Hurry. Do it for the children.

There is nothing like stumbling along with what I know is a suboptimal sequence in Photoshop. I feel that this would probably help me quite a bit with my ongoing Photoshop learning process. Nothing like spending hundreds of dollars on a app and you know you could do better at it :)
Of course my wife is also looking at Photoshop but is somewhat intimidated by the app. This may help her as well. So I guess this would help two of us out.
